Erin Kerr - Our Dance Specialist

Hello, my name is Erin Kerr I'm in S3 and I am really looking forward to starting the Sports Journalism Elective.

Erin Kerr is our Dance Specialist and a member of the LHS School of Dance

The reason I chose to take Sports Journalism out of many different electives was because I really enjoy both English and Sports and wanted to incorporate the two subjects into one.

The sport I enjoy most is by far Dance. I have been dancing for 4 years and have leant loads of new skills. I have improved massively and it’s a big part of my life now.
I dance for Larbert High’s School of Dance and NRG Performers. I was delighted to have been selected to dance within the School of Dance in 2013. In School of Dance we cover most aspects of dance such as; Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and many more. In School of Dance we are mainly focusing on both National 4 and National 5 Dance levels.

I dance on Thursdays at NRG Performers at their new studios in Camelon, Falkirk. There I dance for 45 minutes. I do a mixture between; Jazz, Fusion and Hip-Hop. I am currently looking into joining Ballet there too as I thoroughly enjoy that type of Dance and want to do even more extra-curricular.
In May at the start of the year I went to London with the School of Dance. Every day we danced at Pineapple Studios where we completed many workshops covering different types of Dance such as Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical and many more. I was so happy that I got the chance to dance with someone who was in the cast of Matilda, and later that evening I got the chance to see the show, it was amazing..!!

Despite the fact I love dance I also love other sports such as Football. I go with my Step-dad to many games. I’ve been to a lot of Rangers games and I always really enjoy the atmosphere.
I am looking forward to reporting on many dance shows and events for the Sports Journalism Elective throughout the year.
